Pat Cupo
Pat Cupo is a professional musician, sound designer, and nationally-recognized music educator based in New York City.
In 2008, Pat created the Music Production program at Pershing Middle School in Houston, Texas. This led to hundreds of students learning to make original music within urban, contemporary genres. In 2010, Pat came to Dubspot in New York City, running curriculum and instruction locally while helping start Dubspot Online for a global audience. He’s been an invited lecturer at New York University (NYU), the Crane School of Music, and Columbia University on topics from modern sound design techniques to 18th-century counterpoint. And Pat is a featured instructor for Splice Skills, teaching music production, sound design, theory, and more.
Pat studied at some of the most acclaimed music schools in the world, including Arizona School for the Arts, Manhattan School of Music, School of Jazz at The New School, Crane School of Music (an "Alumnus of Distinction"), and Berklee College of Music. And he holds multiple certificates from the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD).
As a working musician for 25+ years, Pat has played bass all over NYC, from famed rock club CBGBs to Carnegie Hall, from Broadway pit orchestras to late-night studio sessions with high-profile recording artists. He even was a long-term cruise ship musician (once). Berklee Press and Cambridge University Press have published Pat, and his YouTube appearances have reached over two million total views. Most recently, Pat worked in Engineering at Electro-Harmonix, designing sound and pre- sets while imagining new products and so on.
Since version 4.0 of Bitwig Studio, Pat has appeared in Bitwig’s official product videos, designed presets for official sound packages, composed music for product announcements, presented demos on the company’s behalf, and given private lessons to notable users.
Pat is available for private lessons from his home studio in Brooklyn and online. He specializes in working with those new to music production as well as experienced producers who are new to Bitwig Studio.
