Kodama by Yuri Urano

Kodama is not just an invitation into Japanese sound artist Yuri Urano's texture-rich sonic universe. It's also a bridge from her creative practice into yours. This artist package captures the ambient/electronic musician's contemplative, organic approach to sound and music in a collection of field recordings, vocal samples, and presets that use them.

Urano's sound design — sample-based or otherwise — comes alive in a range of presets for drums and beats as well as synths, keyboards, pads and sequences. Kodama contains Drum Machines stocked with unusual percussive one-shots recorded in nature and Convolution impulse responses from temples. There's also a variety of instruments (Samplers, Grid patches, and more) that demonstrate creative implementations of her singing, speaking, and found sounds. "Don't hesitate to make changes to these presets," Urano says. "As the package creator, I'm excited to see how my work will evolve in other people's hands."
