Orchestral Woodwinds puts the sounds of a modern orchestra into Bitwig Studio
We're ringing this year out with Orchestral Woodwinds, another sound package from our friends at Orchestral Tools! Woodwinds offer the broadest range of colors in the orchestra, and this free sound package puts these studio samples (and remix presets) right in your hands.
This sound package contains world-class recordings of a woodwind ensemble by Orchestral Tools, a leading creator of premium symphonic sample collections.
The woodwind section offers the broadest range of sounds and colors in the orchestra, and this sound package puts that diversity right into Bitwig Studio. 14 presets offer standard ensembles, whether it's instruments paired for octaves or the entire set of high and low winds, all with different velocities, articulations, and half- and whole-step trills. All of this is optimized for Bitwig's Sampler, including release samples that capture the space of Berlin's legendary Teldex Studios. And in addition, 14 more presets blend these high-quality samples with Bitwig Studio's own tools, turning your notes into arpeggiated musical patterns, minimal soundscapes with a modern bite, or just enough irregularity that an old line becomes new.
Orchestral Woodwinds is our second collaboration with Orchestral Tools, and it works in perfect harmony with the previously released Orchestral Strings sound package. Both sound packages can be found in the “Partner Collection” of the Bitwig Studio Package Manager.
The samples included in Orchestral Woodwinds were recorded on the scoring stage at the famous Teldex Studio in Berlin, one of the world's preeminent classical music recording studios thanks to its historic location on the site of an 1890 concert venue, its unique collection of vintage microphones, and legacy of engineering expertise. Germany's top orchestras have performed and recorded at this location since the building was constructed as a concert venue for groups like the Berlin Philharmonic in 1890 and then its post-War days as Teldec Studios.

Orchestral Woodwinds is out now and it's a free sound package for anyone with an active Bitwig Studio Upgrade Plan. You need Bitwig Studio 4.4.6 for this sound package
- Launch Bitwig Studio and open the Dashboard (by clicking the Bitwig icon in the top of the window).
- Go to Packages tab, click on Partner Collection, then click the Install button beside “Orchestral Woodwinds.”
- To load a sound: Add a track with the plus button (+), then click on the Presets page, and under Packages, choose “Orchestral Woodwinds.” Now click on any sound and start playing the keyboard.
